TREMEDAL CONCERTS PRESENTS: An Evening with Teresa Tudury
TERESA TUDURY started writing songs at age 12 and was performing in San Francisco nightclubs by the time she was 15. She has played on and off in the Bay Area for years, and for almost two decades was based in Los Angeles where in addition to music gigs, she wrote comedy and worked as a character actress on stage and screen. With a deep, sultry voice that magnetizes audiences, and a scathing comedic wit to match, Teresa is a consummate performer who pours out her original songs with power, verve, passion, and disarming humor. Teresa's voice has been described as a cross between Bette Midler and Bonnie Raitt (LA Weekly). Her vocal stylings are perfectly complemented by her bluesy guitar playing. Throughout her career, Teresa has recorded or performed with such greats as Leonard Cohen, Rickie Lee Jones, Lyle Lovett, Taj Mahal, Leo Kottke, Charlie Musselwhite and Bonnie Bramlett. Now residing in Sonoma County, Teresa continues to perform and write new material. She has just released Such Fine Things, her latest CD. Her earlier recordings (1992 Teresa Tudury, and the 2002 River Of Life). were recently rereleased. With these recordings and a steady stream of concert appearances, Teresa is a gifted artist in her prime. Lori Diamond/Fred Abatelli and Jaime Walker of THE STEAKS!!
Lori Diamond By Jenifer Bakkala Her voice is lush and alluring, and her lyrics dare to visit some of the most secluded tide pools of the human heart. It's a combination that continues to make listening to her music a profound journey -- one that Lori hopes will forge a real bond between herself and her audience. "I want people to feel like they've had an emotional experience when they hear my music. I want to feel like I've made a connection with them." A self-taught pianist, "there was never a moment when music was not there" for Lori. She began on her home piano as a toddler and joined her first band at the age of 14. Beginning in her college years, she was keyboardist and back-up vocalist for the Boston-based Bee Charmers, an acoustic/folk/rock group which offered her some experience in writing and arranging as well. During her 10 years with the Charmers, she also moonlighted with other bands, increasing her repertoire to include Motown, blues, classic rock and jazz. Sometimes described as a cross between Joni Mitchell, Aimee Mann and Alicia Keys, her influences include Norah Jones, Diana Krall, Ella Fitzgerald, Carole King, Liz Story and Sarah McLachlan. The result is an adult contemporary style infused with jazz, pop, folk and blues. In 2003, Lori put her songwriting abilities to the test with her first solo album, Bound, which is dedicated to the memory of her sister. Since then, she has performed avidly as a soloist, and has added her voice and keyboard work to the albums of many local artists. Lori teamed up with guitarist/vocalist Fred Abatelli in 2007, a musical union that she calls "inevitable." "He paints more colors -- takes it to a different place, and expands the sound, making it richer and bolder." With Fred's help, Lori wrote and released Mystery, which made its debut to a standing ovation at Amazing Things Arts Center in Framingham, Mass in 2009. Currently, Lori and Fred are enjoying a full performance schedule, and hope to expand their horizons geographically as their reputation continues to grow. They also plan to collaborate on a new CD in the coming year -- recording begins in June 2010. JAIME WALKER is one of the singer-songwriters and the 'senior steak' in the seminal Boston band, The Swinging Steaks. He remembers first writing songs on the school bus in second grade. He played his first paying gig at a junior high dance at the age of 12. As a guitar player he was initially enamored with first British invasion of blues players (ie Jeff Beck, Page, Clapton, etc) and first started playing slide in standard tuning shortly thereafter, a la Duane Allman. Initially inspired by late 60's AM radio, he has always been a lover of 'the song' and a song writer. In the Steaks era he has been particularly fond of the Texas singer-songwriters, such as Butch Hancock, Joe Ely, Terry Allen, Guy Clarke, Jerry Jeff walker, etc. In retrospect most of Jamie's material has a spiritual aspect to it (although certainly not ALL of it!).

An Evening with Terri Hendrix and LLoyd Maines
Terri Hendrix has always preferred to celebrate the light rather than wallow in the blues but she's no stranger to facing the dark head-on. On her new album, Cry Till You Laugh, the award-winning Texas songwriter spins sorrow into joy and wrings wisdom from the blues with the poetic grace and uplifting melodic flair that has long been her trademark. As Jim Beal of the San Antonio Express-News observed in his review of the album, "Part of the beauty of Terri Hendrix's music is she's among the best at recognizing, writing about and celebrating resilience and common ground, the things we can all cry, and laugh, about." A classically trained vocalist and deft multi-instrumentalist (guitar, mandolin and harmonica), Hendrix is a firm believer in the theory that "life's too short for one genre," dodging musical pigeonholes alongside legendary producer Lloyd Maines (guitar, dobro, pedal steel), by weaving folk, pop, country, blues and swinging jazz into an eclectic style all her own that plays like a carefully compiled mix-CD. Add to that her charismatic stage presence and reputation for always delivering an energetic and spiritually uplifting live show (from intimate listening rooms to huge outdoor festivals), and it's no wonder why the Terri Hendrix "experience" has been embraced by three generations of loyal fans across the country and around the globe. To date, Hendrix has released 14 albums on her own Wilory Records label. In the fall of 2011, she published the second edition of her first book; a tie-in with her latest album featuring song lyrics, photos and essays on life, health, business, music and "owning your own universe" called Cry Till You Laugh The Part That Ain't Art.

Sally Rogers and Howie Bursen
This exciting duo, whose harmonies will send shivers up your spine, has racked up a string of successes in songwriting, studio recording, and crowd-pleasing displays of instrumental and vocal virtuosity. They have appeared on Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion" public radio show, and have toured from coast to coast. Their first album together, Satisfied Customers, on the Flying Fish label, gives testimony to their wide-ranging abilities. Note: Venue is handicap accessible. Children 17 and under free.

Meeting Across the Water
Meeting Across the Water: A Gospel Band Making Music for the Soul The new Gospel group, Meeting Across the Water, performs heartfelt gospel music at the First Parish UU in Warertown on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012. The band is composed of four prominent musicians from the Boston area - Louise Grasmere, Fred Griffeth, Jonathan Singleton, and Eric Kilburn - who decided to get together to create memorable music that nourishes audience members on a deep level and provide sustenance beyond a night's entertainment. Meeting Across the Water explores gospel music from the 1850s to the present, including black gospel street tunes from the mid-1900s and post-World War II music, along with band members' original gospel tunes. The band's music springs from band members' deeply-held belief that African-American and white spiritual traditions can joyfully connect and share with each other. "I've never heard of a band like this before," says singer-percussionist Fred Griffeth. "Who ever thought a gumbo of Black urban blues, R \{e_description}amp; B, and soul blended with White rural folk and bluegrass could be this much fun? But Gospel is the thread that ties it all together." Band member Louise Grasmere adds, "The band sound is a blend of acoustic guitar, mandolin, piano and percussion with compelling lead vocals and multi-part harmonies." The four met while performing with Mystic Chorale, a well-known community-based choral group. "The original idea was sparked in November '08 after the Obama election when Fred got up and sang "This land is your land" at Carey Hall in Lexington," says band member Eric Kilburn. "Fred sang the first verse alone, and you could literally hear a pin drop as he sang. When he finished the first verse, the audience just swooned." After the concert, the four musicians decided to form a band to bring a deep, heartfelt musical experience to a wider audience. Don't miss this opportunity to experience what promises to be one of the jewels of the Boston music scene! Meeting Across the Water is Louise Grasmere (vocals and percussion), Jonathan Singleton (vocals, keyboards), Eric Kilburn (vocals, guitar, mandolin), and Fred Griffeth (vocals).
